Short Mala in Sandalwood and Indian Agate

Why I Created It

I made this short mala for those who want a steady companion for meditation without the weight of a full 108-bead mala. Sandalwood and Indian agate together carry a grounded, quietly protective feel — a piece meant for everyday counting, breath, and return to center.

Materials & Meaning

Sandalwood is considered sacred in India, prized for its deeply calming scent and long history of use in temples and spiritual rituals. In many traditions it is traditionally associated with clarity, tranquility, and a sense of quiet protection when worn close to the skin.

Indian agate, with its banded patterns, is traditionally linked to emotional balance and calm communication. In many cultures agate has long been carried as a stone of steadiness, believed to ease an overly critical mind and support acceptance.

The Seed of Life pendant — six interlocking circles — is an ancient geometric symbol found across many cultures and spiritual traditions, traditionally associated with creation, balance, and interconnectedness.

– 81 natural sandalwood and Indian agate beads (8 mm)
– Seed of Life pendant
– Length: approximately 29 in (72 cm) + pendant
– Hand-knotted on ultra-resistant cord
– Steel and nickel- and lead-free alloy finishes

Traditionally, a mala is composed of 108 beads, or of exact fractions such as 54, 27, or 18. This mala uses 81 beads — a practical, widely used count today, though not part of that original fraction sequence. It's still easier to count during meditation and lighter to wear than a full 108-bead mala.

Authenticity

Every stone is genuine and untreated — never dyed or heat-treated — knotted on a cord built to last, with hypoallergenic metal components free of nickel and lead.
