Moonstone Mala – Hand-Knotted 108-Bead Necklace with Lotus Pendant

Why I created this mala

I made this 108-bead mala for anyone who wants a piece that reflects a softer, more cyclical way of moving through life — something to return to during moments of introspection, full moon rituals, or simply quiet days of self-listening. Moonstone, in its soft pink and gray tones, sits at the center of it.

Materials and meaning

Moonstone is traditionally associated with intuition, emotional clarity, and a quiet sense of being in tune with yourself. Its subtle, shifting sheen — a quality called adularescence — has long made it a stone people turn to during moments of reflection and change.

The meru bead, also in moonstone, marks a symbolic point of pause and transition within the mala.

The lotus pendant in steel is traditionally associated with purity and the slow unfolding of something true, rising gradually into form.

A small steel OM charm sits at the back of the neck — OM being traditionally associated with harmony and a return to a grounded center.

The 21st bead, engraved with the image of the Buddha and forged in steel, marks a sacred pause in the strand — a moment of stillness within the flow of practice, a small invitation to return inward with clarity and compassion.

This mala can accompany meditation, moon rituals, journaling, quiet walks, or simply everyday life. It also makes a meaningful gift between women — a mother, sister, friend, or mentor.
